Come and enjoy connecting with others, and caring for and learning about our local t\u0101onga: Te Raekaihau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u0100 hea (when):&nbsp;<\/strong>R\u0101mere \/ Friday, 14th H\u016brae \/ July, 2 \u2013 4.30 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kei hea (where):&nbsp;<\/strong>Meet at Alice Krebs Lodge near the lookout at the top of the hill, entry from 113 View&nbsp;Road (South). Please note that parking is limited in the cul-de-sac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>He aha (what):&nbsp;<\/strong>We have a range of activities planned for the afternoon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From 2 pm: Shared kai and kapu t\u012b (afternoon tea) at Alice Krebs lodge with a k\u014drero about the history of Kae Miller.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From 3.30 pm: Choose between a hikoi (walk); tree planting; tradescantia weeding or just hanging out at the lodge;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What to bring:&nbsp;<\/strong>If you want to plant, bring gloves and spade; for weeding, gloves and a metal rake if you can.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ko wai tatou (who are we?)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Te Ohu o Te Raekaihau<\/strong>: a group of people with a strong connection to Te Raekaihau, focussed on its re-indigenisation and connecting of moana, ngahere, and communities. She built a small building in 1985 and named it the Alice Krebs Lodge after her friend Alice, who survived two years in a concentration camp. Kae lived in the lodge as a caretaker of the park, planting many trees in the name of conservation and peace, until 1990.
